Camps in The Sacred Valley

Camp is at the heart of Valley Camp. We currently offer three different camps during the year based in Urubamba. Each camp offers unique experiences that encourage our campers to learn more about themselves, to give back to their community through service projects, to be outdoors to appreciate all the natural beauty in the Sacred Valley, and to protect the environment for years to come.

We believe that camp should be accessible for all who want to attend. Therefore we have a tuition fee for families who can afford to pay, but we also offer scholarships for those who do not have the economic means.

  • Summer Camp

Offered for four weeks in January for primary school children. Each week of camp is unique, meaning a participant can come for one week or all four. Summer Camp is from 8:30am to 4:30pm with three days of classes and two field trips.

Classes change week to week, but in the past we have offered arts & crafts, robotics, dance, music, outdoor living skills, weaving, mini-chef, yoga, cooperative games, and capoeira.

Our field trips focus on outdoor adventure and community service. In the past we planted trees, visited the local library, hiked to an Incan archeological site, rock climbed outdoors, painted murals, and camped overnight.

  • Eco Leaders

A one week program offered in February for teenagers in secondary school to learn about sustainability and leadership. During our week together, we learn about the environmental work in the Sacred Valley by taking field trips to different organizations and institutions. Then students will be given the opportunity to develop their own environmental project so they can contribute to their community.

The objective of the program is for teens to develop skills in teamwork, leadership, and communication and to develop self confidence. We also study sustainability and how it applies to our day-to-day life. Additionally, Eco-Leaders Camp is all about exploring new ideas and adapting the program to the needs and interests of the participants.

  • Mountain School

A week-long program of outdoor adventure during winter break in July for teenagers currently enrolled in secondary school. Participants learn the basics of camp craft, hiking, wilderness first aid, and rock climbing.

Everyday we begin at our base camp then go on a different mountain adventure in the Sacred Valley to practice what we are learning.

During this program, participants will work as a team, discover their leadership style, practice problem solving skills, think critically, utilize sustainability skills, and develop effective communication through outdoor fun.

We adapt the program depending on the skills, interests, and abilities of our participants each year.

“My son has always dreamed of going to a camp, and Valley Camp was more than that. It was a great boost for him to continue learning about adventure sports, especially rock climbing. It also motivated his confidence in opening up to meet new friends with other great children. We can’t wait for the next summer camp!”
